Safety Centre
Anonymous doesn't mean lawless. Here's how SecretVN protects receivers and senders, and how you can use our tools.
Tools for receivers
- Block a sender. Tap Block on any note. All of that sender's notes are hidden and they can't send you new ones. You still won't know who they are.
- Report a note. Tap Report and choose a reason. Reports about threats, or someone who may be at risk, are reviewed first.
- Pause your inbox. Turn off “Accept new notes” in Settings whenever you need a break. Your link keeps working; people just see that you're paused.
- Nothing is public. Notes are only ever in your private inbox. They're only seen by others if you choose to post a video of one.
- Disappearing notes. Notes are automatically deleted 2 days (48 hours) after they arrive.
Protections for senders
- Your voice is disguised on your device. Only the disguised audio is uploaded.
- We don't ask for your name, email or phone number to send a note.
- We don't store IP addresses. For spam protection we keep a one-way hash that changes every day and is deleted within 48 hours.
- Phone numbers and emails typed into hints are automatically masked.
What we remove
We remove notes that harass, threaten, contain hate speech or sexual content, share someone's private information, or promote self-harm. Devices that repeatedly break our Community Guidelines can be blocked from sending notes. Accounts that misuse SecretVN can be suspended.
If someone is in danger
If a note suggests someone may hurt themselves or others, report it straight away and call your local emergency number (for example 112 in Nigeria and across Europe, 911 in the US and Canada, 999 in the UK). Talk to someone you trust; you don't have to handle it alone.
Under 18?
You must be at least 13 to use SecretVN. If you're under 18, we recommend sharing your link only with people you know in real life, and telling a parent, guardian or teacher if any note makes you uncomfortable.
